About My Family
December 18, 2009
By now you should have a little bit of an idea formulated in your head about me; however I feel like it’s important to introduce to you My Roots and Culture that I am so proud of. I am extremely proud of this because of my distinctive heritage and culture. I have a lot of Egyptian pride because of my country’s history, (Ancient Egypt) as well as its Seven Wonders of the World, which I proudly visit every year. I love my culture because of the music, food, dancing and cultural traditions, like Ramadan, Hookah Smoking, Grand Family Gatherings and pretty much everything because it’s refined very differently.
Moreover, I think most of you are wondering about my siblings. Well, I have one younger brother who’s great to have around because nothing ever gets boring.
In the Egyptian culture everything is done differently including schooling, marriage, socialism and overall lifestyles. I love this because I’m very adaptable to change.
My parents have been the biggest influences in my life because they hold high expectations and expect the best at all times. Both my parents have the highest level of education and by that I mean they’re both Doctors. I was taught at a young age that family comes first; everything you do in life should be done in moderation; and of course, think before you do something!
I was raised to work hard, take initiative, be responsible, reliable and take ownership for everything I do in life. I was taught to never lie, cheat anyone, be respectful at all times and appreciate everything in my life. I was trained to have the utmost ethical and moral behavior. I was taught to be a strong fighter, after seeing the similar struggles my parents faced, which really stuck with me. My parents taught me the best lesson I could learn and that was “nothing comes handed to you in life.” I was taught to be assertive, efficient, and precise. Until this day I still feel like my parents are “Sergeant Parents “ the type who will mold you and keep you equipped with the “stuff” you’ll need in order to survive the war of life.
If you’re wondering where the personality comes from, “It’s Easy” My parents always had a positive attitude about everything. They turned me into the girl who has a lot to say (My dad taught me to always speak up. Stand for what you believe in). I am a funny girl who possesses a great sense of humor because my dad is known for his “jokester” ways. I am down to earth, pleasing and humble because my mom has always been that way. She’s the type of mother who drops everything in order to cater the world to you and that’s how I get my compassionate side, along with so many more qualities you have got to witness.
Everyday, I am thankful for having the most amazing parents ever. <3 <3
